SERIOUSLY ill children were treated to a special Christmas party at the weekend by American servicemen.
The Imperial War Museum Duxford was the venue for the event which was organised by the 48th Fighter Wing of the United States Air Force in Europe.
A variety of fun activities were arranged, including making reindeer out of candy canes, and face painting as well as exciting games.
Then event carried on the tradition of children’s Christmas parties at the site which date back to 1943.
The 78th Fighter Group, United States Army Air Force (USAAF), based at RAF Duxford, hosted the party for local children and their care for youngsters goes back to wartime.
Seven orphaned children who lost their parents in the Second World War were ‘adopted’ by the unit, and money was donated for their education and food.
