AN all-American adventure awaits one young woman this summer.

Siobhan Holmes, 22, will be hopping over to the other side of the Atlantic, where she will be spending three months with Camp America.

Siobhan, of Ivy Farm, Baldock Road, Royston, said: "I'm very excited about the trip.

"I do seasonal work, and have worked at Haven. I was in Lapland at Christmas and I worked on cruise ships last year as a children's entertainer."

Camp Club Getaway in New York will be Siobhan's home from May 1 where she will be supervising campers and joining in with activities.

She said: "My best friend suggested Camp America to me - this will be her third year doing it.

"We wanted to tour around the States and thought this would be a good way to start it off."

Siobhan attended the Camp America recruitment fair in London where she was torn between two camps, one in California and the other in New York.

"My friend and I were going to go to a camp in California and then go travelling afterwards, but the camp didn't have much performing arts, which is what I wanted.

"The camp I picked is an adventure camp, and has lots of evening activities. It's like an American Haven which is very me."

The Camp Club Getaway caters for children and adults offering family weeks, adults' weekends, and day camps for schools.

"We will be doing rock climbing and the camp has a trapeze," said Siobhan.

"We'll be canoeing and there is also a lake, so I think there will be lots of water sports."

Siobhan's stint at Camp America could continue until August, although she would like to stay on.

"Most camps close in August but my camp stays open until October," she said.

"They've said I'll be able to stay on, and my friend can come and join, once hers closes.

"I love working with children, so I'm really looking forward to it.
