DANCE-ROCK crossovers and the theme tune to Pirates of the Caribbean may not be military standards but they helped make a group of air cadets into one of the premier percussion sections in the corps.

Air Cadets of 2484 (Bassingbourn) squadron recently celebrated a strong showing at the Air Training Corps band competition at RAF Halton - being ranked among the top five percussion sections in the entire corps.

Senior aircraftsman Scott Allen of the Royal Air Force and 2484’s bandmaster, said: “All the cadets’ hard work and effort over the past year has paid off tremendously and they have done themselves proud.”

The band represented the Central and East Region in the contest and is already working on new songs and marching sequences for next year, aiming to shoot higher for 2012.
