An air ambulance was called to attend a vehicle collision this morning (Friday) after a man became trapped.

Emergency services were called to attend a collision on Ashwell Road in Newnham, near Ashwell, between two vehicles at 8.29am, with two ambulances and an air ambulance on the scene.

Paramedic officer Rod Taylor, who attended the scene, said: “A man believed to be in his 80s was trapped and suffered injuries to his chest and abdomen from the impact of the collision. Emergency services worked well together to extricate and stabilise him.

“A second man in his 20s suffered an ankle injury, both were taken by land to Lister Hospital.”
