AN estate agent is urging businesses to donate prizes in support of a grand auction to help Royston Town Centre Forum.

Archers Town and Country, in Baldock Street, Royston, is organising the auction night at The Meridian School, Royston.

Town centre manager Geraint Burnell said: "The idea is to raise money to expand the activities of the forum. There's more work we want to do and it's a way of raising resources."

Jim Bullard, of Archers Town and Country, said: "We believe it is a particularly good project to support. We all live or work in Royston, so we are all helped by what the forum has to offer."

Archers Town and Country have sent letters to all shops and businesses in Royston appealing for donations and promises for the auction.

It has received "lots" such as a week's stay in Portugal, beauty treatments, restaurant meals, cutlery sets and power tools.

Mr Bullard said: "Initiatives such as refurbishing the market place, acquiring new stalls and organising farmers and markets all take time and money.

"The grand auction is our opportunity to support the forum in its work."

The auction will take place on Saturday, September 9.

Tickets are available from Archers Town and Country, The Stationary Cupboard and The Fox and Duck pub in Therfield and will cost £3 each.
