Action is to be taken over the erection of almost 1,000 posts on agriculture land. Developers Property Spy placed the posts on land on the B1368 between Hay Street and Green End in Braughing to mark out building plots. But councillors on East Herts District Council's development control sub-committee have called for an enforcement notice to be served to have the posts removed. Council planning officers described the posts as an "intrusive and a discordant" feature in the surrounding countryside. Committee chairman Cllr Ralph Gilbert said: "These posts are inappropriate in a rural area and clearly detrimental to the countryside." Property Spy is currently selling plots of land on the site for development. - The decision comes after an appeal by developers last year when a planning inspector outlawed posts being placed on a site in Buckingham - the first hearing of its kind in the country. The inspector said the posts appeared as "a strange and inexplicable feature" in the landscape.
