POLICE are warning motorists that the A505 in Baldock is likely to be closed northbound for several hours after a heavy lorry carrying paper rolled over on the roundabout linking with the Baldock By-Pass this afternoon.

The driver of the vehicle, a man in his 60s, was taken to Lister Hospital with facial and other injuries which the police say are not life-threatening.

All traffic coming off the A1 (M) is being diverted through Baldock town centre and back on to the A505 north of the by-pass.

It is understood the road could be closed for more than two hours while heavy lifting equipment is brought in to lift the lorry upright.

Police say traffic is very heavy in the area and is likely to get heavier as rush hour begins.
