PUPILS got a taste of India in unlikely surroundings last week.

Staff at Reed First School dressed up in saris while pupils sampled Indian cuisine and learned about the Indian culture.

As snow settled outside, they also welcomed a visitor from Action Aid who spoke about an Indian town called Chembakolli.

The day tied in with their classroom topic Round the World with Barnaby Bear.

Head teacher Alison Thomas, said: "The aim of the day was to get the children to understand different cultures and to respect them.

"We had fun, even though the saris didn't go with the snow!
