Students at Royston’s Meridian Sixth Form College have been praised for their “brilliant” performances after receiving their A-level results this morning.

The students’ results were confirmed today, and head of sixth form Clive Crisford has said he is delighted that once again the students have succeeded in gaining their university and apprenticeship places with a brilliant set of results.

Outstanding individual A-level performances included Kaitlin Saward, who achieved two A*s and two As.

She said: “I am extremely pleased with my results. I could not have done it without the teachers’ motivation.”

Nathan King – one of Meridian’s highest GCSE achievers in 2015 – kept up his admirable record, gaining an A* and two As – and will now study maths at Exeter University.

Student president Amy Jordan is heading to the University of St Andrews in Scotland, thanks to her grades of A*, A and B.

She said: “I am very excited and really happy as I worked so hard.

“Meridian Sixth Form was so supportive throughout the entire application process for university and I am so excited to be going to my first-choice university.”

Shona Saunders will study international spa management at Derby University thanks to three A grades, and James Edwards got two A grades and a B and will study geography at Exeter

As well as students going on to university, Meridian students are also embarking on apprenticeships in a range of employment sectors.

High flyers include Boris Choi who scored an A*, two As and a B – and is taking up an accountancy apprenticeship.

Isaac Iles is taking up an apprenticeship with auditing firm KPMG, and William Smith is taking up an apprenticeship with Royston chemical firm Johnson Matthey.

Acting headteacher Kim Horner said: “Congratulations to all our sixth-form students for working incredibly hard and achieving such strong results in addition to their wider contributions to the leadership of the school.

“One of the keys to our success is a consistent focus on the interests of the students, developing a broad range of skills and responsibilities.

“We wish our Year 13 students every success as they leave us for the next exciting chapter in their lives.”
