HIGHWAYS officials got their letters in a muddle when carrying out improvements on a Royston road.
Local resident Denise Brett captured this image of the KEER CLEAP sign which was painted on the road surface in Garden Walk, Royston.
She said: "My husband noticed the mistake and we have been chuckling about it ever since."
The Crow contacted Herts Highways on Tuesday to alert them to the mistake, and 24 hours later it had been rectified.
A spokesman for the Highways department apologised for what he described as "an unfortunate error".
