Chase & Status and Becky Hill are the first headline acts announced for Radio 1's Big Weekend on Hertfordshire's doorstep.

Greg James revealed the first acts for the three-day event from May 24 to 26 on his breakfast show this morning (March 18), with more to come in the next few days.

Drum and bass band Rudimental and singer Ella Henderson will take to the main stage on the first evening, while Dimension, Diplo, Kenya Grace and Hannah Laing were also confirmed for the New Music stage on the Friday.

Over 100,000 fans are expected to attend the event at Stockwood Park, Luton, which will feature four stages: Radio 1 Main Stage, Radio 1’s Future Sounds, Radio 1 Dance and BBC Introducing.

This is the first year acts will perform on the Friday, which was previously reserved for an over-18s dance event.

Weekend tickets go on sale from 5pm on Thursday, March 21, and will cost £29.50 with a £4.50 booking fee per ticket.

The BBC will broadcast live across the weekend, with performances available live and on demand online.

The corporation said the festival provides a boost to the local economy and the 2023 festival generated £3.7 million for the host city of Dundee.
