A Royston woman with Down's syndrome has released a book about her life, which she wrote by dictating the words to her mother.

Emma Anderson, who turns 40 in March, wrote I, Emma to tell her life story, from her childhood to her achievements in the arts and her triumphs in the face of adversity.

Her mum Mirka, who is also her carer, helped Emma turn her story into a book. Last year Mirka published her own memoir, From the Eagle's Nest to the Lion's Den, detailing her life in Poland during a time of political unrest, and how she moved to the UK and travelled all around the world.

I, Emma follows Emma's childhood - including her family dynamics with sisters Caroline and Sophie, her early interest in the arts and the development of her unique style.

A description of the book reads: "This book is not just a biography; it's a heartfelt tribute to Emma's extraordinary life as an artist, her remarkable triumphs and her indomitable spirit in the face of challenges.

"It's a narrative that intertwines personal anecdotes, emotional depth and inspiring moments, providing a holistic view of Emma's life and her impact on those around her.

"Readers will learn about the challenges she has faced and overcome, her achievements in various artistic mediums, and how she has become a symbol of resilience and determination."

Emma was previously featured in the Crow at age 21, when she was a student at Cambridge Regional College and had her paintings exhibited in the Tate Modern.

In 2017, Mirka made a documentary film about Emma, called The Sky is the Limit, which has won multiple awards and aims to alter perceptions towards people with Down's syndrome.

Mirka said: "She dictated the book to me - her mother and carer - to show people that where there is a will there is a way!

"And despite social and physical issues and psychological challenges she has reached artistic heights.

"We are very excited as Emma's I, Emma author copies have arrived at our door."

I, Emma is available to buy from Amazon.
