An 89-year-old man was bitten on the ear by a dog in Royston High Street.

The victim bent to stroke the dog at around 11.25am on Saturday, February 3, when it jumped up and bit his ear.

The dog's owner immediately assisted by taking the victim to a pharmacy, where an ambulance was called, but left the scene without giving any details before the police arrived.

Police are now appealing for witnesses and information in relation to the incident.
