Primary school pupils in Royston and Melbourn have been selected to win free Christmas trees from Dobbies Garden Centre.

Schools and nurseries were invited to nominate themselves to receive a real Christmas tree as part of Dobbies' Not Your Average Community campaign.

Pupils from Roman Way Academy in Royston, Melbourn Primary School and Woodentops Preschool in Sandy were chosen to come along and select a Nordmann fir tree.

The trees were made available thanks to the garden centre's partnership with sustainable tree grower Needlefresh, who said they are "excited to see how the kids bring this classic tree to life."

Dobbies' community communications executive Chloë Bell said: "We’re amazed by the number of entries and nominations for this year’s campaign and would like to thank everyone for spending the time to get involved.
