A group of nine students from Bassingbourn Village College joined 13 other schools for a youth COP27 climate conference last month.

The event was held at Sawston Village College, and Dr Simon Morley from the British Antarctic Survey (BAS) was the keynote speaker.

Each school was assigned a country - with Bassingbourn Village College representing Bangladesh - and part of the conference was run as if students were taking part in global negotiations.

Students also discussed ways to make change in their own communities.

Vickey Poulter, principal of Bassingbourn Village College said: "We are delighted to have taken part in this event. It is important to inspire our students to look at the local and global issues regarding the environment and climate change."
