EXHIBITIONS explaining plans for gipsy and traveller sites in South Cambridgeshire will take place in the next few weeks.
Six exhibitions are being held in the district, including one in Bassingbourn next Friday.
Last month, land at Spring Lane, Basingbourn, and New Farm, Old North Road, Whaddon, were identified as potential locations for new gipsy and traveller pitches. The East of England Plan requires at least 88 new permanent pitches in South Cambridgeshire by 2021.
Cllr David Bard, portfolio holder for new communities at the district council, said: "We have made a firm commitment to involve the community in all stages of identifying these permanent Gypsy and Traveller sites. I hope that people will take the opportunity to come along to the exhibitions to find out more and have their questions answered.
The council will consider comments that focus on planning issues such as infrastructure - including education and health, access, traffic and parking, noise, pollution, landscape impact, historic buildings, conservation and wildlife.
"I am confident that we have the arrangements in place to consult effectively with the public and would encourage people to put their comments and any alternative site suggestions forward for consideration," added Cllr Bard.
The exhibition in Bassingbourn will take place next Friday, June 24, at The Limes Communal Room, High Street, Bassingbourn, from 1pm - 8pm.
An exhibition will also take place at the district council's Cambourne offices throughout the consultation, which runs until October 9. This will be open from 8.30am - 5pm, Monday to Friday.
