A MUCH loved head teacher said goodbye this week after ten years service at a primary school.

Marilyn Jones, 57, retired from her position at Icknield Walk First School, Royston, last week. She had been head teacher at the school for ten years, and retires after a 36 year career in education.

She said: "I have had a fantastic ten years at Icknield Walk, and there are lots of people to thank for that - parents, staff, governors, PTA committees and most of all the children. "What I am going to do with my days in September is still a mystery to me but I will think of everyone at the school fondly and there will be a big hole in my life that was once Icknield," she said.
