A FORMER Crow editor enjoyed a royal appointment last week when he collected his OBE.
Terry Grote, of Royston, picked up the honour at Buckingham Palace last Tuesday.
He became editor of The Crow in 1981, succeeding Fred Sillence, having previously held the position of deputy editor for two years.
After leaving in 1986, he moved on to the Capital newspapers group, which was later brought out by the Independent group. He moved over to the Independent in 1998, and remained with the title as managing director until his retirement earlier this year.
