PLANS to restore Barrington Quarry will go on show to the public this weekend.
Owners of the site, Cemex, are holding an exhibition to showcase their plans to fill the quarry with inert material so it can be returned to agricultural use.
The scheme would create 20 jobs were it to go-ahead.
Ian Southcott, from Cemex, said: "The display is an opportunity for local people to view the proposals and make any comments prior to a planning application being submitted, which is likely to be during April.
"This exhibition has come about after our discussions with the local liaison group in Barrington and I hope as many people as possible will get along and make their views known."
The material needed to fill the quarry would be brought in by train, with up to four deliveries a day being made to the site.
Cllr Sebastian Kindersley, who represents Barrington on Cambridgeshire County Council, said: "We do still have some concerns about the amount of trains, and when they will be coming and going. We do not want them rolling past peoples gardens at anti-social hours.
"However these plans are generally welcome and I hope the exhibitions will be well attended," he said.
Cemex closed the cement works at the site last year, with the loss of 87 jobs.
The display will be held in the Barrington Village Hall between 9.30am - 3pm this Saturday, March 6. Representatives from Cemex will be on hand to answer questions.
