HAIL, wind, and rain failed to dampen the spirits of people who flocked to the Royston May Fayre.
The annual bank holiday event, organised by Royston town council, took place amid changeable weather conditions, but this did not deter an army of people who descended on the event in Priory Memorial Gardens.
The strong winds almost caused the stall being manned by the Electralites dance troop to blow away, but army cadets from Bassingbourn Barracks were on hand to secure it before it flew off.
Happy hounds paraded around the arena for the novelty dog show, while there was also a children's fancy dress competition and a tightrope walker.
Musical entertainment was provided by acts including the Royston town band and the Sonic Manipulator, who brought his own cosmic-slant to proceedings.
And in the Civic Centre car park, Royston Rotary Club hosted its annual classic car show, with 90 cars and 25 motor bikes on display.
A Rotary Club spokesman said: "They were a credit to their owners, who clearly have spent much effort in keeping the vehicles in such wonderful condition, and to give the town's folk enormous enjoyment."
Winner of the Rotary Classic Car Cup was Paul Hardy, who presented a replica AC Cobra.
Royston's mayor Cllr Rod Kennedy awarded the Mayor's trophy to John Dowling who exhibited an Austin Metropolitan, while the Rotary Motor Cycle cup went to Ken Stretton for his Triumph Bonneville.
Members of the Royston Photographic Society were on hand to capture the event on camera, and you can see the results of their endeavours in our web gallery.
