The Crow enters summer in the 2010 review
IT’S the time of year to cast our eyes back over the last 12 months, and pick out the highs and lows of a year of Royston news.
Reporter Joe Tyler takes a trawl through the archives to see what news has affected the people of Crow country in 2010.
June
3 – Pensioner Jim Chamberlain had his car destroyed after it was flipped on its head by vandals.
The 67-year-old was left housebound after the incident, which followed two occasions when the yobs had tipped the Microcar Prestige on its side.
Jim said at the time: “I have reported the incidents to the police, but they don’t seem to be able to catch them.”
Also this month
3 – Experts were called in to deal with a suspected bomb found in a Royston garden, only to discover it was a flower pot.
3 – Royston Town Council remained Tory controlled, taking 13 of the 15 available seats, with two going to the Liberal Democrats.
17 – Cllr Martin Beaver took over as Mayor of Royston, replacing Rod Kennedy.
