THREE generations of a family came together to mark a Royston woman’s 100th birthday.
Ellen Howard celebrated her special day on Saturday. Staff and residents at Collingwood Court in Royston, where she lives, held a surprise party for her on Friday. Guests included her daughter, Irene Winstanley, and great-granddaughter Maya Watson.
Tracey Scott, house manager at Collingwood Court, said: “I think she was overwhelmed by the whole thing, but she had a lovely time. She’s actually having another party today [Thursday], so she’s celebrating in style.
“She’s still very active and absolutely amazing for her age.”
Originally from North London, Mrs Howard moved in to Collingwood Court 11 years ago to be nearer her family. Among the many cards and presents she received was a telegram from the Queen.
