Royston’s mayor welcomed customers to Royston’s new £1.4million pub on Tuesday.
Cllr Bob Smith was guest of honour at the opening of JD Wetherspoon’s new pub, The Manor House, which is based in the former Manor House social club
He said: “I welcome Wetherspoon to the town and believe that they will prove a valuable amenity. I was impressed with the quality of refurbishment to the building and the choice of internal fittings which portrayed the rich history of Royston and the range of food and drink.
“I also welcome the fact that 45 local people have been employed at the pub.”
Cllr Smith was pleased to learn that Wetherspoon support CLIC Sargent, a charity for children with cancer. It is a charity he has chosen as one of the good causes which will benefit from his mayoral year.
