A councillor has praised the return of a bus service.
Since the beginning of October, the 127 bus from the Mordens to Royston no longer stopped at the Morrisons store in the town centre, instead travelling to Royston bus station via Queen’s Road.
Those using the service felt the change would have a negative impact on shoppers who used the service to travel to and from Morrisons.
Now Cambridgeshire County Council has taken steps to re-register the old stopping point, which had been lost when transport operator Whippet took over the service.
Cllr Susan van de Ven said: “This is great news and means there will no longer be any need for people to club together for lifts to the supermarket.
“Carrying shopping bags all the way up Royston bus or rail station pick-up points is a trek for anyone, let alone the elderly and people who are less mobile. Getting the route registered through the official channels usually takes 56 days but the county council responded to requests to help expedite this process.”
The Passenger Transport team have said they expect the stop to return to the service “imminently”.
