Around 40 split bags filled with brown waste were found dumped at the side of the road last week in the hamlet of Odsey.
The split bags full of refuse were dumped by the side of Station Road, just off the A505 near the Jester Country Inn.
Fly-tipping – the illegal and unauthorised disposal of waste – is a costly issue for local authorities.
A South Cambridgeshire District Council spokesman said: “Fly-tipping is a national problem that blights the countryside and costs taxpayers thousands of pounds each year to clear up.
“If you see someone in the act of fly tipping, please call the police.”
If rubbish has already been dumped, you can report it through the district council’s website at www.scambs.gov.uk.
The spokesman added: “Our team will investigate and take action wherever possible.”
Each fly-tipping incident costs councils around £72 a minute.
