Evacuees who were sent to the safety of rural Guilden Morden during the Second World War will meet to reminisce with old friends at a reunion this weekend.
Saturday’s reunion will be held in the Congregational Church schoolroom in Pound Green at 2pm and has been arranged by Doreen Mitchell.
Barbara Haines, who has also helped organise the event, said: “We went to school with the evacuees. We have been very lucky to keep in touch. They love coming back.
“When we were younger, we were all friends. It’s really something.”
