Villagers in Reed will soon be able to access a life-saving device from their old phone box thanks to a donation from the ambulance service.
The new defibrillator from the East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust has been welcomed by members of Reed Parish Council, pictured above with the service’s Simon Marshall.
The council’s David Clark said: “I’m delighted that EEAST offered us a defibrillator – we’re very keen to offer residents awareness training and we hope to finalise a date soon.”
A defibrillator is designed to be easy to use and can restart a person’s heart if they are in cardiac arrest.
The idea of housing it in the phone box has been commended.
Training officer Simon said: “It’s such a great idea, what a fantastic use of an old phone box.
“I’m looking forward to meeting the residents of Reed and giving them some vital training.”
