The acting headteacher of Meridian School is delighted after 20 per cent of students achieved A* and A grades when A-level results were opened this morning.
More than 70 per cent of grades awarded at the school on Garden Walk were A*-C and the overall pass rate for A*-E grades was 99 per cent.
Acting headteacher Kim Horner said: “This year group has worked hard to build on the successes achieved in Year 12 showing an impressive work ethic, on average, increasing each A-level entry by one whole grade, compared with 2015 A-level results.”
All of the 60 per cent of students who were holding onto university places in July have won a place at university, at institutions up and down the country, including Durham, Brighton, Liverpool and Oxford University.
Acting deputy headteacher David Atkins said: “In an ever more difficult examination environment, it is wonderful to see the standards which these students have reached, while showing themselves to be well-rounded and extremely personable young people.
“We wish them well for the future as many move onto university or training for employment.”
