A Melbourn schoolgirl has said she is ‘still in shock’ after winning a national dance competition.
Holly Henry won the ISTD under-14s’ national dance title at the championships in Guildford.
The Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing is one of the world’s leading dance examination boards.
From ballet to ballroom, they have 12 dance faculties covering different types of dance.
Holly’s family, including her mum Gail, was bursting with pride to see her win.
“We are so proud of Holly,” Gail said.
“She has worked so hard, it is such a massive achievement.”
After qualifying previously, the 13-year-old never made it to the finals until this year’s competition.
She had to first win regional freestyle contest to gain a place at the national championships, where she performed a lyrical style routine.
The Melbourn Village College student is over the moon that six months of rigorous training at Melbourn’s GH Dance and GStars Performing Arts School in Royston has paid off.
“I still can’t believe I won,” said Holly.
“I’m looking forward to competing again next year.”
