Performers took to the stage at Royston Town Hall on Saturday for an evening of top entertainment in aid of the Mayor’s Community Trust Fund.

Elemental kicked off the night, to raise money for local causes, with some punchy pop classics, followed by an eclectic range of dance courtesy of Georgina Wootten’s G-Stars.

There was also baton routine and the Boys’ Street dance group brought the house down with their energetic moves, and the audience were treated to some world-class singing from trained soprano Guild Hall trained soprano, Hannah Theobald, and enjoyed a fun-filled performance by Ruth White’s amateur choir, Singing Aloud.

The compère, Royston mayor Sarah Dingley, admitted to being moved to tears by the beautiful rendition of Colours of the Wind by Greneway student, Leonie Smith.

The grand finale was the Royston Band, whose clever version of Ticket to Ride was said to be simply astonishing in its creativity.

Councillor Dingley paid a special thanks to Councillor Iain Leggett, who provided and manned the PA system and was unflappable under the strain of the quick turnaround of acts.

“All in all, it was a wonderful evening and grateful thanks go to all the performers and others, who gave of their time and energy to raise funds for the people of Royston,” she said.
