A 10-year-old girl from Royston has had her long locks chopped off to be donated to a children’s cancer charity.
Lara-Mai Butler decided to donate her hair to the Little Princess Trust – which provide wigs for children undergoing cancer treatment – after being inspired by a programme on TV.
Mum Charlotte said her daughter came up with the idea some time ago, but a decision was made to let it grow longer first.
Months passed and on Friday Lara-Mai had her free chop at Anderson’s Hair in Angel Pavement.
“She was nervous but excited, they cut 10 inches off and she loves it,” said Charlotte.
Lara-Mai also set up a fundraising page to raise cash for the cause – and raised £100 in the first five hours. Charlotte added: “She’s raised £360 – she’s been so excited watching the money come in and reading the comments. We are all very proud.”
