Organisers recruiting the team who will stage this summer’s Rhythms of the World festival in Hitchin want anyone interested in finding out more to pop down to the pub and ask a few questions.

They’re hosting what’s billed as an informal but informative recruitment session at the town centre Victoria pub on Monday from 8pm.

Lawrence Francis of the festival team said: “There will be a short introduction then people will have the chance to speak to current volunteers about the roles on offer or the teams they can join and what it’s like to be involved.

“They can sign up on the night or take information away and come back to us.

“This is for people who would like to be involved now, to help prepare for and organise the festival, as well as those who would like to volunteer at the Festival itself.

“We have some key roles to fill, as existing volunteers move on to other roles.

“Over the festival weekend there are all sorts of jobs to do, whether you are creative or practical, like to work with the public or want to help with the performers.

“There is something to fit everyone’s skills, experience and availability so come and find out more.

“We need volunteers of all ages. Anyone over 15 can get involved and there is no upper age limit! Some roles involve working in pairs, so bring a friend and you can volunteer together.”
