He has one of the most familiar faces in comedy, but many would be unable to put a name to those distinctive features.

You can put that right at the October Mostly Comedy session at Hitchin’s Market Theatre when Kevin Eldon is on the bill.

Kevin has cropped up in all sorts of cult shows during his long career, including the Stevenage-set Steve Coogan vehicle Saxondale, and he’s been able to showcase his talents on both TV and radio in projects which have his own name in the title, too.

He’s probably best known for his long association with Stewart Lee but his fame may soon leap to a new level – he’s the voice of Penfold in the eagerly-awaited revival of TV children’s favourite Dangermouse.

Joining him and regular hosts Doggett & Ephgrave at the Sun Street venue on Thursday, October 22, is Tom Binns, the character comedian whose best-loved creations are hapless hospital radio DJ Ivan Brackenbury and creepy but incompetent spirit medium Ian D. Montfort.

Further along in the Mostly Comedy programme this season will be spots for TV magician and game show host Paul Daniels and stand-up legend Sean Hughes.

The bar will be open for the October gig from 7.30pm, with the first act taking to the stage at 8.30pm. Tickets are £9.50, available in advance at www.mostlycomedy.co.uk.
