Are you ready, boys and girls? There’s just over a week before the curtain goes up on this year’s big panto production at Stevenage’s Gordon Craig Theatre, and the tingle of anticipation is in the air.

The first show in a run that will continue well into the new year is next Friday night.

Former Coronation Street star Wendi Peters is the marquee name in Sleeping Beauty, with Gordon Craig favourites Paul Laidlaw and Aidan O’Neill returning by popular demand.

Joining them will be Gregor Stewart as the dashing Prince Valiant. The seasoned actor, dancer and choreographer has a host of West End roles including a role in the musical version of saucy bestseller 50 Shades of Grey, but family fun will be to the fore when he joins the Sleeping Beauty squad.

The show is billed as a traditional family pantomime where a princess is searching for happiness, the evil Carabosse is searching for revenge, Chester the Jester is searching for someone to laugh at his jokes and Dame Nellie Night Nurse is searching for a man – so watch out if you’re in the front two rows.
