Train bosses are to be taken to task by Herts County Council’s transport chief and challenged to sort out unreliable service caused by driver shortages.
Major cancellations are still causing significant disruption to services from London Kings Cross and St Pancras and beyond, says Councillor Derrick Ashley, who represents Hitchin and holds the transport brief in the County Hall cabinet.
He is urging Govia Thameslink Railway to work with rail regulators and the Department for Transport to improve their services so that travellers can plan their journeys with confidence.
He said: “There appears to have been little improvement since I highlighted the issues back in September.
“I find this ongoing ad hoc situation of cancellations and delays across all their lines in the county completely unacceptable.
“Once again I would like GTR to confirm how they intend to improve their current service levels, and to confirm we can expect services to run as timetabled.
“This is particularly important at peak times.”
