A former RAF pilot from Sandon whose vintage jet crashed and killed 11 people at the Shoreham Airshow in Sussex is being investigated for manslaughter, police have confirmed.
Andy Hill, who has also flown with British Airways, was first interviewed by police in December after he recovered from critical injuries suffered in the crash in August.
The Hawker Hunter jet plunged into the A27 in Shoreham, smashing into four pieces and killing 11 people on the road.
A Sussex Police spokesman said: “Detectives investigating the circumstances of the crash of a Hunter fighter jet at Shoreham in August 2015, which killed 11 people, have confirmed that a 52-year-old man was notified in December that he is being investigated for possible endangerment pursuant to Article 138 Air Navigation Order 2009 and also manslaughter by gross negligence.”
The details have come out of papers filed by police in Sussex in its High Court bid to access material relating to the crash from the Air Accidents Investigation Branch, such as cockpit recorders and footage.
Mr Hill, who regularly took part in Imperial War Museum Duxford airshows, was put into a medical induced coma after the crash and was released from hospital in September.
