Train services are running at a reduced speed between Hitchin and Cambridge – with some potentially cancelled – after a signalling fault at Foxton.
All routes on the Great Northern line have been affected by the fault with the signalling system, with @GNRailUK alerting passengers to the problem an hour ago.
Train services running between Foxton and Cambridge may be cancelled, delayed or revised as a result of the fault – with disruption expected until at least 3.30pm.
A customer advice post on greatnorthernrail.com reads: “There is a reported fault with the signalling system and Network Rail, who own and maintain the equipment have staff attending to effect repairs. While this is ongoing, services may be delayed or subject to alteration.
“Once the fault is repaired, Great Northern will be working to restore the train service to the normal timetable as quickly as possible and are sorry for the problems this disruption may cause you.”
A bus replacement service is in operation between Royston and Cambridge, and ticket acceptance is in place with Greater Anglia.
