A TEACHER from Freman College in Buntingford ran his first Flora London Marathon.
Luke McIlvenna completed the gruelling course in 4hr 5min in a race which saw him running alongside British Olympic rowing hero Matthew Pinsent.
Before training for the marathon, Mr McIlvenna had never run more than 10 miles.
He said: "I enjoyed the first half, especially when I got to the half-way mark at London Bridge. At the 17-mile mark I found it hard and really had to dig deep."
Mr McIlvenna raised £2,500 for St Elizabeth's in Much Hadam, a charity which supports children with autistic, epileptic or neurological disorders.
