PLANS to build homes in Grange Bottom, Royston, have been criticised by town councillors. Planning committee members opposed the scheme, which include one detached property with a garage, two semi-detached properties, and flats. The plan includes garages and six parking spaces. Councillor Mike Harrison said the planning application was "overdevelopment" of the site. Councillor Lynn Berry said: "To be quite honest, there just seems to be so much going on in a small area. They are just trying to get too much into a small space." Cllr Harrison was critical about the proposed height of the development. "I don't know that many mountain goats who could get a mortgage," he said. One concern of members was the potential extra traffic that might be generated from the site. "Barkway Road is already extremely congested and I don't think it can take any extra traffic. That's something we don't need," said Cllr Harrison. Members heard that the nearby residents have opposed the scheme.
