CHILDREN at a school in Royston are helping feed homeless people in Cambridge by donating a food hamper.
Pupils at Roman Way First School in Burns Road were allowed to wear non-uniform clothes for a day last month in return for bringing in items. Each class made a hamper with the products they brought in.
The hampers are being raffled in aid of the school, and one has been given to Jimmy's Night Shelter in Cambridge.
Headteacher Suzanne Summerhayes said: "The school community and Roman Way parents are always delighted to support Jimmy's."
Jimmy's has been providing a place of shelter for homeless people in Cambridge for more than 10 years.
The shelter relies on volunteers and donations to continue its work.
Jacqui O'Docherty, housekeeper at Jimmy's, said the gift was gratefully received.
She added: "I am particularly happy to hear that the children were thinking about those less fortunate than themselves during the Christmas period.
