THE temperature soared to 100F yesterday (Wednesday).

But the weather caused problems - and it is believed the heat started a blaze of standing crop in a field next to the B1039, near Barley.

Four crews were fighting the blaze which started at about 12.45pm.

Ash from the blaze covered parts of Royston.

It was the second incident of its kind during the past week.

But for some it was time to cool down.
