STUDENTS swapped school uniforms for long black gloves and colourful wigs - and showed their talent on stage.
Freman College in Buntingford played host to a convention of wig-wearing witches as students from Years 9 and 10 performed Roald Dahl's tale The Witches.
The Witches tells the story of a boy - played with remarkable confidence by Emily Dunn - who after being taught the finer points of spotting a witch, comes face-to-face with the most fearsome of all, the Grand High Witch.
The innovative production, which was held over two nights, proved a resounding success as students got to grips with one of Dahl's most popular stories.
Head of drama Jo Andrews praised all the those involved with Megan Youell, Ollie West and Jennifer Armond outstanding in their roles, and Jo Nawrat in terrifying form as the Grand High Witch.
Ms Andrews, who directed the play, said: "I was overwhelmed by the commitment and focus demonstrated by the cast and crew. They worked hard and deserved all the praise they received from the audiences.
