A HANGAR dance held to aid Bassingbourn Tower Museum raised more £9,000.
More than 800 revellers attended the dance in a hangar that during the Second World War was the home of the iconic Memphis Belle B-17 bomber.
And it was appropriate that the music for the evening came from the Memphis Belle Swing Orchestra.
Dance organisers have donated £500 of the profits to the barracks to thank them for the help in arranging the event.
Museum curator Chris Murphy said: "We wanted to thank everyone at Bassingbourn for their help, it was a truly memorable evening.
"It was particularly pleasing to have the Memphis Belle Swing Orchestra there, seeing as the Memphis Belle was based at Bassingbourn."
Lt Col Nigel Smith, commanding officer at Bassingbourn, said the donation would be used towards the Sunshine Nursery, which is based at the barracks and is used by the children of Army personal and nearby residents.
