Royston's community officer Sgt PETE FROST on recent police activity around the area.
JANUARY was a busy month in the rural areas.
There have been a number of burglaries, but this is still a small figure compared with the national average.
However, there have been a number of improvements that we have made in an attempt to reassure residents and prevent further crime.
One is to increase patrols by PCSOs Kennedy and Brabrook.
They have also been busy making arrangements to complete crime prevention roadshows providing advice on security.
These will begin in Wallington on February 16.
Pc Paul Marina has also been combating an increase in hare-coursing - and we have had some good results.
There have been a number of arrests, and vehicles seized.
n Royston has experienced vehicles being used in an anti-social manner which has resulted in the owners being warned.
Any continued use of such behaviour will allow police to seize the vehicle.
Drivers must not race, or wheel-spin, or do anything else with their vehicles in a public place likely to cause harassment or distress to another.
n PCSO Trussell has recently been completing a Neighbourhood Watch survey on The Ridings estate in Royston. Surveys have been handed out to residents and there have already been many positive responses. A meeting will be planned where all interested residents will be invited.
