A POLICE appeal has been launched after a 17-year-old boy was beaten and robbed by three men in Royston.

The attack happened on Saturday night between 10.45-11.20pm on Dog Kennel Lane when the victim, who lives in the town, was approached by the thieves who asked for his mobile phone.

He pushed past them and tried to get away but they caught him and assaulted him before taking his mobile phone and then headed off in the direction of the White Bear Public House.

The victim suffered cuts to his face, swelling to the back of his head and swelling to his chest.

Detective Sergeant Pete Hankins, investigating, said: “This was a despicable and unprovoked robbery which has left the victim shaken.

“I would urge anyone who may have witnessed this incident or who saw three males leaving the area shortly after the incident to get in touch with us as a matter of urgency.”
