AMERICANS who served in Cambridge during the Second World War are remembered on a new website which was launched by The Imperial War Museum in Duxford yesterday (Wednesday). The launch of the website entitled America in Cambridge 1941-1946 was held in conjunction with Cambridgeshire County Council's library and information service. It took place in the American Air Museum in Britain, which is home to Duxford's unique collection of historic American combat aircraft and a memorial to 30,000 Americans who died flying from the UK in the Second World War. The website is home to a collection of studioportraits of American personnel, Allied servicemen and women who visited the Ramsey and Muspratt photographic studio, off St Andrew's Street, during the Second World War. An exhibition of some of the images will be open to the public at Duxford until March 6. - For more information visit http://hipweb.cambridgeshire.gov.uk/cambscoll/airmen_about.html
