WITH regard to the re-surfacing of Fish Hill and Market Hill, highway maintenance is the responsibility of Herts County Council.
The dates for the work were publicised in advance by notices published in the press and by signs prominently displayed in the local area.
It is unfortunate that the work coincided with the arts festival, but I am sure that everybody would agree that the highways were in need of a new surface and we should all be grateful for the work done.
Royston Town Council, which provided financial support for the festival, should not be blamed.

I can also assure people that the town council, working in close co-operation with the town centre forum, is working hard to ensure the long-term future of the town centre and its retailers.
