MY comments in The Crow on February 1, printed without the Buntingford town sign photograph, unfortunately inferred the wrong information.

Some people thought that I meant the rather grand sign in the town centre.

Further to the response by Cllr Jean Cook (The Crow, February 8) to my comments in the previous weeks edition about the "pathetic Buntingford sign", I understand that my letter may have seemed rhetorical.

I did, however, raise an issue which I felt warranted a reply, even an acknowledgement that my e-mail wasn't going to spend an eternity in cyberspace.

The aim of my letter was to see if Buntingford Town Council or East Herts District Council were able to provide our town with an inspiring imaginative boundary sign similar to those at Thundridge, High Cross and Wadesmill, instead of the half-hidden "pathetic" sign displayed at the south of Buntingford, near the Sainsbury depot. To date this is still unanswered, despite Cllr Cook stating in her letter that "our policy is to reply to all".

I, therefore, ask the following questions:

1. Can Buntingford have boundary signs similar to those at Thundridge, High Cross and Wadesmill?

2. Why is our current boundary sign at the south of Buntingford allowed to be obscured, as shown in the photograph?
