VETERAN rockers Stiff Little Fingers are coming to the Junction next week.
And although the "veteran" tag probably doesn't sit very well with a group who were among the leading lights in the punk movement, it is the only way to describe a band who have been on the road in one form or another for more than 30 years.
Only lead singer Jake Burns has remained in the band since their formation, when he and four school friends got together in their native Belfast, originally playing under the name Highway Star. The quintet started out playing rock covers, but soon discovered punk, changed their name, and never looked back.
Although they've undergone many line up changes since the 1970's, original bassist Ali McMordie rejoined Burns in 2006, and the band continue to attract a loyal following up and down the country, eager to hear hits such as Straw Dogs, Back to Front, and Beirut Moon.

ROCK and roll icon, author, and restaurateur Bill Wyman is going back to his roots for his latest tour.
The ex-Rolling Stone is the driving force behind the Rhythm Kings, a set of virtuoso musicians bringing back to life the kind of classic rhythm and blues that first inspired Wyman to pick up the guitar as a teenager.
He said: "The whole idea behind the band was to play music that we love and I think you can hear and feel that on our records. Playing live, doing gigs, means everybody in the band does it for the same reasons as I do; to have a good time and send the crowd home with smiles on their faces."
The Rhythm Kings will be entertaining crowds at the Cambridge Corn Exchange on Saturday October 31. Tickets are 24.50, and subject to a 2 booking fee. The gig begins at 7.30pm, for more information, or to book, visit www.cornex.co.uk, or call 01223 357 851.
