It's been great fun reading the well-targeted exchanges on your Letters pages between my old friend Carlo Zambonini and (though he didn't realise it!) my mother, Mrs Turner of Green Drift.
However, the Crow's weekly status has made it feel rather like a slow-motion tennis match - and the fact that both players are actually operating from the same side of the net (apart from occasional forays over to the other side to score a point) hasn't done anything to speed things up.
Since I know neither of these doughty sloggers would willingly surrender the right to have the last word, and while the global supply of forests for newsprint is dwindling, maybe it's time for me to climb into the Umpire's chair and call "Deuce!" -even though this will probably only result in a combined McEnroe-Williams-style verbal onslaught (well, if it brings peace and saves a few trees, so be it).
